The pilot implementation of the space realted STEM lesson developed during the project was successfully carried out in Greece. A total of 30 members from the Hellenic National Robotics Team, as well as the FIRST Global Challenge Team Greece powered by ΔΕΗ (PPC – Public Power Corporation), participated in the initiative.
Focus on Earth Observation
The pilot implementation focused primarily on the educational module regarding the use of satellite imagery and the role of Earth Observation, with a particular emphasis on monitoring the environmental impact of wildfires. This theme is directly linked to this year’s Igniting Innovation Robotics Challenge, in which students and participants explore ways that technology can contribute to the prevention, response, and recovery phases of forest fires.
Through these activities, participants had the opportunity to learn how space technologies and satellite data can be utilized to:
- Monitor environmental changes in real-time.
- Assist in decision-making that enhances community resilience against natural disasters.



Special Guest: ASAT
A special highlight of the day was the presence of ASAT (Aristotle Space & Aeronautics Team) from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, who showcased their work in the field of aerospace engineering. The team members presented their rocket, ECLIPSE, and performed a live demonstration of its parachute deployment system, offering a unique hands-on experience to the participants.
The day was packed with robotics, space technology, innovation, and experiential learning, demonstrating in practice how Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) can be creatively combined through modern educational approaches.
