As part of the Erasmus+ project “STEM with Art”, students celebrated International Astronomy Day through a series of creative, hands-on, and inquiry-based activities combining astronomy, physics, mathematics, English, and teamwork.
Throughout the day, students built Earth–Moon scale models, explored planetary motion through interactive Solar System activities, calculated cosmic distances, and designed their own space-inspired models and devices. They also discovered how electronics, sensors, and technologies used in STEM education connect to real space missions.
The celebration included discussions inspired by The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, where students compared science fiction with the realities of space exploration, while English activities focused on everyday life aboard the ISS and the challenges astronauts face in space.
By blending science with creativity, collaboration, and experimentation, Astronomy Day became an inspiring experience that encouraged students to explore the universe with curiosity, imagination, and critical thinking.
